Go fishing anywhere in the world, and you will usually find that there is a ‘common’ fish to be found in that area. However, some parts of the world are also home to rarer fish. If you are a seasoned fisher and you want to start catching something a bit more ‘out there you might want to look into the following locations.
These are great places to come and fish for something more challenging and unique.
Eg-Ur River Basin, Mongolia
Let’s go remote here, and head off to Mongolia. Here, you can catch the famous Taimen. These are one of the most famous rainbow trout breeds in the world, and require incredible patience and skill to catch. You will need to have a very strong fishing pole and plenty of experience in handling larger fish to be able to pull one of these monsters out of the water. For experienced fishing teams, though, this is a memorable trip.
Amazon Basin, Brazil
Let us head off to South America, then, and try to capture the Piranha. That sounds ridiculously dangerous, we know. But these fish are not the man-eating monsters they are made out to be within popular culture and movies. They are hard to catch, but adding one to your list of fish that you have caught would be quite the catch. They are something you should try and catch as part of a team or, at least, with the help of a guide.
Umba River, Russia
Let us head off to Eastern Europe now, and try to capture the salmon found in the Umba River. This is on the Kola Peninsula, and these fish are pretty unique. They are incredibly large for salmon, and they look quite different from the salmon found elsewhere in the world.
The remote nature of this region means everything here is a little different, untouched even. For that reason, you should take a trip to the Umba River and see what you can pick up.
Cairns, Australia
Head Down Under and you could catch yourself something like the Giant Black Marlin. This is a very rare kind of fish and it is one of the most challenging to reel in. If you can manage to get one of these then you will be the talk of the local fisher teams. You will need to head on down to a location that is near Lizard Island and Cairns, and hope for the best.
